Our Commitment & Impact

We believe in tourism as a tool for preservation, social justice, and territorial sovereignty. Casa Gregorio actively leads and supports grassroots community and environmental initiatives in San Martín de Amacayacu.

Community Responsibility

We are deeply committed to the well-being and autonomy of our village through long-term structural alliances:

  • Ancestral Land Rights: We support the reclamation of 30,000 hectares of ancestral territory within the region, working through The Small World Foundation to legally recognize these lands as a Tikuna resguardo.

  • Social Infrastructure: Over the last decade, our collaborative efforts have secured 60 eco-friendly toilets, 48 water tanks (1,000L), a community kindergarten for 60 children, and 11 community fish ponds.

  • Cultural Art Initiatives: Partnering with alternative collectives, we have co-funded and facilitated the painting of over 15 vibrant house facades featuring traditional indigenous iconography across the village.

Environmental Stewardship

Protecting the delicate ecosystem of the Amazon rainforest guides every single operation at our lodge:

  • Waste Management: Casa Gregorio recycles 95% of its non-organic waste. Through Fundación Amazonas Sin Límites and the Colombian Air Force, these recyclables are systematically transported to specialized recycling centers in Bogotá.

  • Circular Economy: All organic waste produced at the lodge is reused locally to feed domestic animals, nourish community trees, or fuel our organic composting systems.

  • TripAdvisor Recognition: Our rigorous, transparent ecological practices and community-led policies have earned Casa Gregorio the prestigious TripAdvisor Green Leader Platinum Award.

Indigenous Ranger Patrols

We directly co-manage and fund active territorial defense and environmental education within the jungle:

  • Guardia Indígena Ambiental: Coordinated by our local leadership, this volunteer indigenous ranger team monitors spatial planning, combats illegal extraction, and organizes clean-up drives along the Amacayacu River.

  • National Geographic Support: Our local conservation initiatives recently received backing from the National Geographic Society through the "BIRD" project, which focuses on preserving indigenous avian knowledge across generations.

  • Youth Involvement: Local children actively participate in our environmental workshops and field outings, fostering an early sense of pride, ecological awareness, and connection to their ancestral territory.
